Abstract

Human capital development serves as the primary driver of employee productivity, as it addresses employees' psychological, emotional, and physical needs. This study was undertaken to examine the impact of human capital development on employee productivity, with a specific focus on the academic staff of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University. The study surveyed academic staff from Graduate Assistant to Lecturer II, across seven faculties in the Igbariam campus of the University. Data was collected through the aid of a Likert-style questionnaire, meticulously crafted on a 5-point scale. The findings from this study revealed a compelling explanatory power regarding how training influences work quality. Specifically, this statistic indicates that a remarkable 88.3% of the variations observed in the quality of work among the staff can be attributed to differences in their training experiences. The findings from the hypothesis two revealed a statistically significant positive correlation between technical skills and effective time management among the staff at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University. Based on the findings, this study strongly advocate for employees at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University to proactively engage in a diverse array of training initiatives specifically designed to foster self-improvement and further their pursuit of academic excellence.
