PREDICTING FINACIAL DISTRESS OF OMANI TOURISM COMPANIES DURING COVID-19 USING ZMIJEWSKI MODEL

Abstract

The present study was conducted to predict the financial distress of the companies in Tourism industry listed in Muscat Stock Exchange during covid 19 using Zmijewski model by considering their performance for a period of three years from 2018 to 2020. The results of the study revealed that there are no any companies prone to bankruptcy at present and the safest among them is Dhofar Tourism company with a highest X score. The most unsafe company is Al Batinah hotels with a lowest return on assets and current ratio compared to others in the industry. But an in-depth analysis reveals that, some of the companies which has negative Return on Assets and X score which are gradually nearing to 0 X score can go into financial problems in future if necessary actions are not taken now.
